New Easter treats ~ that never hopped into store.
We were really excited to start the ball rolling in bringing you limited-time only menu items - starting this Easter. Cue indulgent burgers, loaded fries and spectacular shakes...
When the supermarkets had cleared out the Christmas decorations and on January 3rd replaced them with the Easter eggs, much to our alarm, we sneaked a packet of mallow eggs into our basket (those whole NZ-made ones, not those cut-in-half jobs). After a small food coma, we took a trip down the rabbit hole to come up with the best limited-edition Shake Out Easter shake we could muster, in true Shake Out style.
Enter, stage left, our decadent Easter delight; honouring the Kiwi Easter favourite - the chocolate marshmallow egg.
Featuring a toasted marshmallow and organic soft serve blend. Served with a salted caramel sauce centre (a must-have in any good mallow egg) and topped with chocolate shake, marshmallow cream, chocolate kibble and a whole chocolate marshmallow egg for good measure.
So, with everyone staying home and egg hunts being swapped for bear hunts, Easter is looking a little different than we had imagined this year (thanks COVID-19) and we've had to pull the pin on our choc mallow creation. Fingers and buns crossed, this sweet treat will hop into stores next year instead.
With no Easter shakes to put them on, we had an abundance of marshmallow eggs to spare. Rather than panic-stockpiling more than our fair share, our team very kindly (and safely) donated all of our Smales Farm store stock to the hard-working and much deserving nursing staff at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital.
But we couldn't let a weekend full of chocolate indulgence pass without a little something to sweeten your week, so now you can make your own! You can find the recipe for our choc mallow shake here- which we've shaken up a little so you can give it a whirl from the comfort of your Easter bubble. Enjoy!
From our bubble to yours, wishing you a safe and happy Easter.
The team at Shake Out.
